Jared doesn’t know how long he’s been stretched on his back in agony, but it’s been several hours. He hears footsteps and looks over. It’s his master! He has a flash of hope, but then sees what’s in his master’s hand, the short, braided bullwhip, the most painful by far. “No, Jared, I am not here to loosen your bonds,” the man says, then cranks the rack even tighter.
